Sandow Apple Tree Emerges From 40-Year Breeding Path
The Sandow apple, developed by W. T. Macoun in the Division of Viticulture, Agriculture Department, took forty years to develop and evaluate. It is hardier than Northern Spy, bears earlier, and yields more in early orchard life. It resists scab better than Northern Spy and McIntosh, and is recommended for planting in the St John River Valley NB, southern Ontario from Sarnia to Toronto, and the Lake Ontario region from Toronto to Belleville.
