Art Cooper Named to Fill Parks Board Vacancy
Parks and recreation committee reshuffled Thursday evening to fill the board and secretary position. Art Cooper resigns as secretary treasurer and is chosen to fill the vacancy left by Harold Townsley, who becomes parks manager. Townsley’s wife Mrs Townsley works in the community centre and as board secretary treasurer. The joint board includes five citizens and two council members, with discussion of adding extra members due to revenue drops from out of town picnickers and parking fees. The group debated parking solutions and authorized the park superintendent to open and close inner park gates for the season. The meeting, chaired by Guy, noted alternative parking ideas and praised Mrs Townsley’s performance. Continued on Page 2.
