Dragged by pony ends life of Erin girl on birthday
An eight year old Erin girl Brenda Swindlehurst was killed when a pony bolted dragging her as she walked it to her family barn. She died shortly after and was buried in Erin Cemetery on her eighth birthday. Survived by her parents Lloyd and Mrs Swindlehurst and four siblings Brian Allan Lynn Connie. Private funeral held at Wednell Funeral Home and burial in Erin Cemetery.

Car Fire Destroys Vehicle Driven by Jim Fryer at Guelph
On Monday evening a fire destroyed Jim Fryer’s 1960 Consul in Guelph after flames erupted in the engine. Fryer steered the car into a ditch as neighbour Lloyd McEnery alerted Acton firefighters near a grain field ready to harvest. The owner had removed the metal top before the blaze.

Con men posing as bank inspectors target seniors
Police warn after three residents, including Miss M Z Bennett, reported calls from men claiming to be bank inspectors or Windsor police. Three-year-old Marlene Helen Schonnop darted from between parked cars Sunday morning and was struck by a car on Mill Street in front of Wiles' bus depot. The car, driven by Dr. Douglas C. Maplesden, jammed on brakes and swerved but could not avoid the child.
