Underground Wiring Plan Sparks Commission Costs Debate
At a town meeting the commission debated underground versus overhead wiring costs for seven new steel light standards on the east side and pole installation for underground service to 14 homes. Ontario Hydro proposed paying part of the extra cost, while officials weighed per home charges and future funding from the Department of Highways. A separate motion approved mercury vapor lights on Church Street and pension-plan participation for town staff, with a report on written figures promised for next hydro meeting.
