Breezin Along At Parker Street Hall Aided High School

Maynard theater groups stage Breezin Along a musical comedy at Parker Street Hall for high school activities. Jack Mason spends a fortune to satisfy a will condition while relatives, friends, and secretaries play out comical schemes as romances unfold. The cast features Elin Swanson Irene Lemoine Lorraine Koch Jack Johnston John Murphy and John Pozericki with strong supporting turns from Edward Hannon and Robert Lester, plus a lively chorus and orchestra.

Maynard K of C Communion Breakfast and Program

Maynard Council Knights of Columbus held a communal communion at St. Bridget's 8:30 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. breakfast at Odd Fellows hall. James B. Farrell served as toastmaster with remarks by Rev. Walter J. Roche, Richard Hilferty, D. D. Elmer Ross, and state treasurer Charles F. Hurley. Hurley urged support for the Home Loan Bank program. Former assistant district attorney John Shea of Dalton closed the morning.

School Committee Plans Temporary Student Relocation

The School committee voted to move pupils from Main Street School to other buildings and offer part of the Main Street building to the Selectmen or Town of Maynard for temporary use. Officials say the move will cut at least two teachers and save on heat and janitor services to reduce town expenses.

Solemn High Requiem Mass for Thomas J. Gately

Thomas J. Gately of 13 Great Road Maynard died Saturday at Massachusetts General Hospital after weeks of illness. He was 40, born in New York, long resident of Maynard, formerly in the auto business. He leaves a wife Catherine, two sons, his parents, and a sister. He helped organize Maynard lodge BPOE and was a member of Maynard Council K of C and Holy Name Society. Funeral from the home Tuesday followed by a solemn high mass at St Bridget's Church attended by many. Burial at St Bridget's Cemetery.

Service To Legion Members Maynard

The Demars Legion Post rehabilitation and Service Department directs to provide all possible services to members who have joined within the past three years. It will discontinue service to non affiliated veterans. Services include soldier relief funerals compensation hospitalization and insurance adjustments. The Legion seeks veteran legislation and urges membership for benefits.

Frank J. DeMars Post and Maynard VFW plan Memorial Day exercises with Auxiliaries. A parade forms at Roosevelt School and proceeds to Glenwood and St Bridget’s cemeteries, with deux ceremonies and wreaths. A dinner at Odd Fellows hall follows, then a military mass at St Bridget’s.

Died at Home of Daughter in Maynard

Luean oR Nutting aged 85 died at her daughter Mrs Adelaide Charl ton's home 54 Summer Street following a brief illness. She was born in Quincy and lived in Maynard nine years. Survived by son Fred Nutting and daughter. A short service was held at the home then at Quincy for funeral services at John Hall Chapel 2 PM with interment at Mt Wallaston Cemetery.

Three Deer Seen Near Maynard by Local Fishermen

Five men tramping through the woods near the Maynard Rod and Gun Club reported sighting three deer by White Pond. One animal, an albino offspring, lingered at the water’s edge for about a half hour. Witnesses included Dr. C. L. King Frank Parks Walter Kelley Albert Riley and others.

Company H Wins Honors At Fourth Annual Prize Drill

Concord Massachusetts soldiers dominated the fourth annual prize drill at the State Armory Wednesday evening. Sergeant Chandler Saunders won first honors and a loving cup plus $10, with Norman L Scherer second and Philip H Finan third. Captain John C Dolan led the drill with Lieutenants Hagerty and Hutchinson. judges praised the company’s performance. A half hour concert by McEnelly’s Victor Orchestra followed, as 700 dancers filled the Armory.

An increase of pay in percent took effect Monday at the Assabet mill. Workers welcomed the raise, and townspeople expect improved local industry. Some departments called in staff. rumors of large orders circulated but were unconfirmed by mill officials amid reports of nationwide industrial upturn.

Gardens Open for Mass Civic Cruelty Prevention Tour

Maynard High in annual art display at Washington Auditorium May 25 from 3 to 9 pm features senior and junior works. Students from the art department invited the public to view the exhibit which showcases training and progress from the school program.
