Concord High baseball lost to Stoneham 6 3 on Wednesday and to Winchester 3 2 in ten innings. In a Tuesday game at Emerson Park Mara Kennedy and Cook produced early offense but Stoneham benefited from errors and strategic miscues to seize the lead. Concord Musical Club Ends Season With Charity Concert
The Concord Musical Club held its April 25 meeting at Mes Williams's Monument Street home with hosts Mrs Hooberlien and Mrs Brat as officers. Officers were re elected, a memorial fund for Eugenie Macie Foss to aid the Music Centre was approved, and pupil Claire Kent played violin while others performed on piano cello harp and voice. A public autumn concert to benefit the Music Centre is planned with club members performing.

Acton Civil War veteran Aaron Fletcher marked 92nd birthday
South Acton remembers Corporal Aaron Jones Fletcher on his 92nd birthday honoring his Civil War service from April 1861 to 1865. Born April 28 1841 in Fleteler’s Corner he joined a Massachusetts militia January 21 1861 and served under Butler Sheridan and in the medical purveyors office before mustering out August 26 1865. Fletcher spent decades in railroad and bridge work, later pursued crafts and family life on Martin Street with wife Mary Purner and their four children. He remains active in the community and local lodge circles as a respected resident of South Acton.
