Funeral for Benjamin Derby Draws Church Crowds
West Concord Union Church overflowed as hundreds from diverse groups gathered for the funeral of Benjamin Derby who died Monday. Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges, Shriners and other bodies attended, with a long list of officials and postmasters present. The service featured Pilgrim Male Quartet, organ music, and tributes to Derby’s integrity and generosity. Burial at Sleepy Hollow followed Masonic rites by Corinthian Lodge.

British Veterans Return to Concord in Pilgrimage
The 25th Annual Pilgrimage of the British Naval and Military Veterans Association of Massachusetts to Lexington Bedford and Concord drew large crowds of American veterans from the Spanish and World Wars. A parade led by The Concord Legion Band proceeded to the Battle Ground and then to the British graves at the Worth Bridge for wreath laying. Notables from U S and British groups attended as Spanish War Veterans joined for the first time in honoring the two unknown British soldiers. Rain began as ceremonies concluded in Monument Square with decorative tributes to the Grand Army Memorial and the Spanish War Veterans.

Maynard Residents Observe 55th Anniversary of Scullys
Mr and Mrs William Scully Sr of Dartmouth street quietly marked their 55th wedding anniversary. Married June 8 1879 in Rockville Connecticut they have six children 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. William Scully 75 remains active at Assebet mill and is noted as a skilled carder and lifelong Democrat.

June Wedding at St Bridget's in Waltham
Miss Helen K Bakun daughter of Mr and Mrs William Bakun 11 Percival Street and Karl J McPhee son of Mr and Mrs James McPhee 1000 Main Street Waltham were married at St Bridget's Church in a two o'clock ceremony. Rev Walter Roche officiated in the presence of relatives and friends. The bride wore georgelle and velvet with a veil and orange blossoms, and carried white roses lilies of the valley and sweet peas. Attendants included Miss Helen Merhee maid of honor and Miss Mae Paul bridesmaid. The groom's brother John Bakun was best man and William Corcoran of Waltham was usher. A reception followed at the bride's home with guests from Waltham Maynard Clinton Hudson Marlboro and Boston. The couple will reside at 15 01 Moore Ave after a wedding trip.
