Maynard reports full Easter services across local churches. Rev. Walter Roche led Masses at St. Brigid’s and St. Mary’s with Rev. John Sherry Rev. John McCarthy and Rev. Fallon assisting. Easter music by the regular choir under A. A. Hilerty. Upcoming: first Friday Mass at 6 45 and 7, confessions Thursday. A Maynard M E play "The Alabaster Box" by Anna Harnwell and Isabelle Meaker was staged Easter evening.

Dr Currier Led South Acton Post Office and Community

Dr Walter Currier 77 postmaster of South Acton died Monday night after years of declining health. A Harvard Dental School graduate, he practiced in Maynard Lynn and South Acton, served 16 years as postmaster, and held many local roles including director of the Acton Agricultural Society and senior deacon of the South Acton Congregational church. Burial will be in Newburyport after a home service and Masonic rites. The Acton community mourns a well known civic leader.

Maynard Glee Club Hosts Singers From Area Groups

The Maynard and Beverly glee clubs hosted singers from Lowell Lawrence Beverly Andover Methuen and locals at a banquet and songtest in the Masonic building Saturday night under Gavin Taylor Jr. The groups plan a Beverly concert April 26 and a Maynard program in early May with a guest soloist. Maynard and Beverly have been invited to a national concert in New York on April 28.

Easter Spirit Pervades Concord Churches

West Concord Union Church reports a joyous Easter with Rev. Alfred W. Stone back in the pulpit despite cold weather. The service featured Handel and Haydn selections, a notable Easter pageant, and a Lily presentation to the minister by the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Trinitarian Church held morning worship with a “Waster Comes Again” sermon and new members admitted at Good Friday. Easter Services In Concord Churches Mark Resurrection Day

Concord Methodist Episcopal and Trinity Church held uplifting Easter observances. At Concord Methodist Episcopal Church Dr Frank W. Aleland preached a strong sermon on the Resurrection, with Memorial cards and lilies, soloist Miss Luther Stondaht of Boston, and many families remembering loved ones gone before. Trinity Church opened with Poly Communion at seven and nine thirty, Rev Charles Russell Peck delivered the eleven o’clock sermon, choral music under Katherine Uhler, and a Church School carol service featured young voices and Miss Ishia beth Marton. Large congregations attended both churches.

Concord remembers Rev Dr Cyrus Richardson on his 91st birthday at Brookline home 67 St Pan Street while health limits public gatherings. Desmond Widow Marlboro-a Mos Dies Suddenly

Marlboro area widow of John W. Desmond died suddenly at her sister’s home 110 Prospect Street after reportedly good health. Born in Ireland 63 years ago she lived in Maynard most of her life where she ran the Old Maynard House and later the Shirley House. She leaves three sons including Dr. Desmond of Shirley and Arthur of Medford, two daughters in Boston, a sister in Ireland and Mrs J T Shaughnessy of Lats city. Funeral is planned from her son’s home with mass at Shirley Catholic Church Friday morning. Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery in Maynard.

Concord Veteran Railroad Foreman Charles Castle Dies

Charles Castle a veteran Boston and Maine Railroad foreman died suddenly from a heart attack at his Concord home 44 Belknap Street He was born June 28 1873 in Charlestown and lived in Concord since boyhood He served 43 years with the road and was a member of the Railroad Brotherhood He is survived by his wife Margaret Castle a son and a brother with three daughters in Medford Concord and Wort Concord.
