Concord pauses for a solemn funeral service for Clarence Norman Johnson and Henry Arthur Petersen after a sudden tragedy. Mourners fill the First Parish Meeting House and Sleepy Hollow cemetery as friends and local ball players pay tribute with flowers and prayers.
Maynard High School class of 1929 plans its first reunion at Wayland Rosebud Gardens on a Saturday evening in August. Nearly two thirds of the graduates have signed to attend. organizers seek additional information from potential attendees or those with contact details.
Catherine Lyons 58 a resident of Maynard died Monday at Concord Rest Home after four months there. Survived by husband John Lyons Sr and two sons John Jr of Hudson and Harold of Maynard. Funeral from Harold Lyons home at 48 McKinley Street with a requiem mass at St Bridgets Church. Burial in St Bridgets Cemetery.
Acton John Fr Valentine of Chelmsford announces bid for Republican nomination to represent Acton Bedford Carlisle Chelmsford Littleton and Westford. A lawyer and long time public servant he chairs town matters, serves as postmaster and town counsel, and helped create the East Chelmsford Water district.
Maynard team of the Middlesex County league will move its home games to South Acton due to weak Maynard fan support. Games at Jonesfield, owned by the Association, were arranged after a meeting of the South Acton AA last Tuesday. Maynard was runner up in the first half. second half promises stronger play and shifts favor to South Acton.
Jacob Pacarycky of 95 Summer street Maynard died after a bale of wool fell from an upper story at South Acton Woolen Company plant. He was knocked down during a journey, suffered a head wound, and was sent to Homerson Hospital for x rays fearing skull fracture. He was 48, survived by a wife and two children in Poland. Funeral held from Mrs. Bundalavitch’s home, solemn high mass at St Casimir's, burial at St Bridget's.
In the Walden Pond Red Cross swimming program the week of July 12 to 18, many students earned progression badges. Names span Beginners, Swimmiers, Side Stroke, Crawl, Girl Scout Swimmers, and Life Saving categories with multiple individuals listed in each group.
The Textile Realty Company a subsidiary of the American Woolen Company will sell more property in Maynard at public auction August 17 and 18. About 150 houses in the new village section will be offered. An office will open at Waltham and Parker streets next Monday.

Concord reports Company H 182nd Infantry arriving home from a 15 day Fort Devens tour. Relatives greeted the soldiers at the railroad station as they marched to the State Armory. Two men stayed behind in the hospital with appendicitis Private Lawrence J. Kenney and Private Arthur LaCroix. Lieutenant William A. Hagerty commanded the company with full enlistment for the first time.

Maynard Donato Ferranti, 28, of Cambridge, drowned at Vose Playground pond during a Duke of Abruzzi Society outing. His wife, also in danger, was rescued. Patrolmen and volunteers searched for an hour before Ferranti's body was recovered. Death ruled accidental drowning. he leaves a wife and two children.
Concord fruit merchant John Bartolomeo and Miss Carmina Stef anelli wed on July 17, 1909 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in West Concord. A silver wedding celebration followed at Byron Street with relatives, friends, gifts, telegraph and telephone messages, and an orchestra including their sons Angelo and Joseph.
In the parlors of the First Parish meeting house a life like portrait of the late Rev. Benjamin R Bulkeley has been hung. Gifted by his daughter Alice Bulkeley Winslow Jr and painted by his niece Lucian Warren the likeness captures him in later years as minister emeritus. The portrait over the mantel adds beauty to the newly decorated room.
