The Aberdeen debating team on the negative side of the recall judges question was defeated in the second series debate at Olympia Friday night. Aberdeen earned high marks for delivery though the judges saw Olympia as the stronger overall. Horace Cook and Mac Maurice spoke for Aberdeen while Ruth Fitzgerald and Carson Stockey represented Olympia.
Washington state will save about 1 006 000 annually for consumers under a new weights and measures department. The act standardizes all measures to federal standards and appoints the secretary of state as ex officio superintendent with a deputy and inspector. Counties and cities must appoint sealers to enforce the standards and standardize packages for butter bread potatoes and other goods.
The senior class at Aberdeen High presented the annual play For Old Yale at the Grand theatre before a fair sized crowd. The Yale Harvard athletic scene provided a tense third act while the cast of amateurs impressed with polished performances led by George Hafferty and Ray McKenna.

Dr. Alfred Kinney of Astoria and Portland receives a telegraphic letter from his son Dr. August M. Kinney in New York. He describes Bellevue hospital cases showing weight gains and relief of symptoms after Friedman treatment, noting 26 patients treated that day and possible further follow up for two weeks.
A definite report on the cost of installment maintenance and operation of a Commercial club in this city will be presented to Chamber of Commerce members at the noon meeting at the Hotel Washington next Tuesday. Officials urge full attendance to decide whether the Chamber should reorganize into a Commercial club and on what lines.

Kaufman Brothers announces a 10 percent benefit sale initiative for church funds. Over seven sale days from March 27 to April 18 churches receive 10 percent of net proceeds, with ladies from each denomination assisting. The most successful denomination earns an extra $25. special days feature music, refreshments, and department-specific offers.
Leslie A. Poulson owner of Poulson Auto at 319 East Market Street suffers two broken ribs after colliding with a hand cart protruding from a sidewalk near Moulton Furniture. He rode on a running board of S. K. Bowes driven car, both failing to see the projecting cart. Doctors say the injury is simple and he hopes to return downtown within a week, though he cannot work for some time.
In Montesano on March 24 the case of Robert Hoffman against I R Watkins saw a jury award Hoffman 5350 dollars last week. An order grants Watkins 10 days to file an affidavit supporting a motion for a new trial.
A marriage license was issued today in Montesano to John L. Berry of Aberdeen and Susan C. Austgen of Seattle.
Architect C E Troutman presents modified Gothic plans for a new church building at East First and G streets. The 400 seat auditorium spans about 40 by 80 feet with north and south wings for Sunday school and other rooms, opalescent windows, shingles exterior, and a small 16 foot rise, no towers.
The Canadian Club will meet with Mrs. Dr. Lane on Thursday afternoon. The New Brunswick ladies are entertaining.
In Montesano on March 24 Herman Michel and Pauline Ervick of Aberdeen wed after a humorous hunt by Cupid through offices and officials. The couple, both previously married, received their licenses alongside Royal Putman with Hazel Parker of Montesano and Earl Harkins with Anna Klement of Hoquiam.
Montesano dispatch reports T. F. Palms arrived to assume charge of the Hoquiam Sash and Door Co. plant on the river front. Repair work is under way and new machinery will soon be installed as production resumes.
Reported end of long negotiations between Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul and Pacific and Eastern Railway men, with Milwaukee engineers arriving at Do and Raymond to extend the Pacific and Eastern toward Willay Harbor. Officials unavailable for comment. dirt may fly within 30 days.
Hermes Seeman, who eloped with Miss Glad Duball near Elm, was arrested in Prineville Oregon on Wednesday. He is held by the sheriff on a charge of running away with a minor. The couple wed at Redmond Oregon on Tuesday. the bride is not yet 17 years old.
Ex Governor Albert E Mead is buried at Bay View cemetery after a large funeral at Trinity Methodist Church. Governor Ernest Lister and ex Governor Marion Hay attended, with about two thousand people following the procession to the burial site. The elder Mead had requested his ashes be placed with his son’s grave.
O Jack Engen and Emily Pagelow Bellew wed Easter Sunday at the bride’s mother’s Tacoma home. The quiet ceremony, conducted by Rev Marsh, united a leading local real estate broker and Tacoma social figure. They plan to live at Dabney Block after April 12.
