Fire at the Grays Harbor Commercial box factory in Cosmopolis caused $30,000 to $40,000 in damage before eleven o clock. Aberdeen and Cosmopolis crews battled the blaze with the main factory and boiler room saved and rebuilding planned. The origin remains unknown and night work will resume to keep up with orders.

In Los Angeles probate court a petition to admit Annie Elizabeth Harris’s will clears up mystery. Harris who died at Fred Braxton's San Pedro home leaves $12,000 to brother Charles Bealey of Aberdeen Washington. She sailed from Seattle on May 28 and had no local relatives. Braxton summoned an attorney who drafted the will before her final illness. The Seattle real estate is the bequest.

First Whaler Goes Out From Aberdeen
The steam whaling steamer Patterson left Grays Harbor late Friday night for the first whale for Sanford's point station. Expected back this afternoon or tonight with the catch, waters off Washington coast report plenty of whales. The chief gunner tested the harpoon gun with three shots hitting a floating barrel at 300 yards. Sanford's point plant, though not complete, is ready to begin operations and Patterson can tow 11 whales, moving at two to three knots.
