New Law Criticised Over Handling of Insane Patient
Montesano June 17. An example of the new law sending criminals to the penitentiary and the insane to hospitals arose when Steilacoom authorities sent one attendant to escort Thomas Turner to the hospital. Deputy Sheriff Winters and Janitor Garner aided the attendant after a hard struggle to restrain the patient in a strait jacket before removal. Criticism targets the decision to deploy a single guard for such a dangerous patient.

Taft V8 Text Book and Taftian Tariff Arguments

The piece ties these claims to Taft’s free trade order and canal procurement reports noting Europe offered cheaper or similarly priced materials while U S suppliers face higher costs.
