D. Lyon, a jeweler employed at T. J. Thomas in Wishkah and G streets, was arrested by Constable Chas. Y. Fenwick on a grand larceny warrant. The complaint alleges theft of watches and precious metal valued at $100 or more, with loot sent to Seattle as old metal. Lyon, from San Francisco, worked at Thomas’s store about a week. works were discovered after an employee found an express receipt and loot in Lyon’s coat and room at the German hotel.

Narrow Escape as Hoquiam Car Jumps Track
A Hoquiam bound street car at the Eighth Street bridge narrowly stayed on track by about eight inches after a bad rail joint caused the derailment. The rear truck swung toward the river, railing was damaged, and panicked passengers rushed for doors. No injuries were reported. The car was relaid to the track by 8 o'clock.

Anglers Find Gold Ring Inside Trout in Local Catch
Fred Hewitt and Sim Monroe fished Sunday at the mouth of Elliott's Slough and caught three Blueback trout. Upon cleaning one fish a plain worn gold ring was found in its stomach, prompting wonder about how it got there. The trio vouches for the tale as authentic.
