Cornerstone Laid for McCormick High School Ceremony
McCormick marks the cornerstone laying for its new High School on May 20 1912 with Masonic rites and speeches by Prof Hand. The eight room building sits on the former site, presented by Mrs McCormick. Grand Master George S Mower was expected but replaced by Solicitor BR Cooper. A delayed stone setting prompted telegrams before approving the wall placement. Hand delivered a engaging address praising the community and urging local patrons to good governance. A dinner followed, described as Epicurus worthy, with McCormick women hosting a generous barbecue. Visitors also toured a local gold mine and observed improved ore milling preparations.
