Indiana state entomologist H Baldwin urges Indianapolis tree owners to band trunks with sticky material as soon as warmth returns. The method blocks the red spider from rising to leaves and helps curb caterpillars bagworms tussock moths and other pests, preserving foliage and trees.

Washington May 27 Senator Overman of North Carolina for the minority of the senate committee on claims filed a report predicting a vigorous fight to restore items in the omnibus claims bill that Republican members last week struck from the measure. The items, aggregating thousands of dollars, were killed by the committee. Overman says the victims include lodges associations and churches in the South that suffered due to Federal troops actions during the war and should be restored without further notice.
