Washington reports the loss of the U S submarine S-51 after a collision with the steamer City of Rams near Newport Rhode Island. Officials say 34 officers and men are believed drowned though 6 officers and 311 enlisted were aboard at departure and private wrecking firms may be used to raise the sunken craft.

The two men clashed last night as detective Reed pursued James Luckie for alleged four murders. Luckie reportedly resisted arrest at his residence and fired, fatally wounding Reed whose body was found in Nashville after the confrontation.
Gallipotts, C., Sept 26. John Baker, 19, out bunting a dar, climbed a tree after a squirrel we had shot and which lodged in a fork. A companion came along, mistook the squirrel caught in Baker's hands for a second victim and fired. He shot Baker, who was rushed to a hospital with a gunshot wound and may die.
The Muskingum county County Parent-Teacher Association opened in the high school auditorium with broad district representation. Principal speakers included Prof. A. E. Mansperger and Fred Enoch, praising local and county P T A progress while noting shifts in national and state association control. Dresden, Frazersburg, New Concord, Zanesville, Wayne, South Hopewell, Newton, Hopewell, Muskingum, Spring Field, Monroe, Bighland, Licking, Phile, White Cottage, Roseville, Harrison, and Falls township districts sent delegates, with Zanesville leading in afternoon attendance.
Cleveland residents report a fatal crash early today after a car driven by George Kilmpie veered from East 1st Street to the Brecivilie road embankment, plunging 70 feet. Kilmpie and another man Prostabir died. a third passenger was fatally injured.
Cincinnati, Sept 25. Simon, 49, of Middletown Ohio, died of heart disease on a Cincinnati and Middletown bus last night. His head dropped, he lost consciousness, and attempts to revive him failed. An emergency card in his pocket identified him.

In Chiaso on September 26 a construction elevator fell during work in the downtown district. Three workers died and one was injured as debris and cement crushed those on the shaft. James Devlin, escorting two students, was among those in the elevator when it crashed. An unidentified worker was swept from the fourth floor by the mass of wood and metal debris.
The Prout Revue scores a hit in Springfield with Miss Prout in the act as Ornest and Freddie Geiger shine. Evebu and Corrine Cros review the performance while agents Patsy Murphy and Thelma Jag promote bookings. The troupe heads to Jackson and Chicago venues in early October on the Sun circuit with Zanesville fans expressing strong support. Local fans travel to Springfield to see the act and congratulate the performers.
