Elderly Motorist Killed in Crash Near City

A 70 year old retired Greenville area farmer was killed in a head on collision with a tractor trailer on East Pike three miles from the city. His wife Hannah, 65, suffered a fractured skull and other injuries and was treated at Bethesda hospital. The truck driver Leo Travis, 24, of West Alexander Pa, sustained minor injuries. A second truck was damaged when steered into a ditch to avoid traffic. its driver W S Snelling, 60, was uninjured. Sheriff Weissert said the Hubers were returning from a vacation when they pulled onto the highway from a filling station.

Tragedy at Rokeby Lock Drowns Local Fisherman

Donald Carmichael, 27, of 832 Park Street drowned when he slipped from the Rokeby Dam on the Muskingum River around 8:30 PM while fishing.
