Car overturns injures man near Mt. Sterling
E C Haymaker a 46 year old Parkersburg West Virginia man was seriously hurt when his car skidded on a gravel berm near Mt. Sterling and overturned Friday morning. His wife and four children escaped. daughter Elsie 19 was driving. He was treated at Gratiot and moved to Bethesda hospital with possible internal injuries and a fractured left hip. Covington Kentucky states that Harold Van Venison a 33 year old Black former radio and night club entertainer was hanged at 5 38 am for a criminal attack on a white Covington woman. An accordion accompanied the execution and Van Venison sang a spiritual Steal Away Jesus as he mounted the gallows. Sheriff Henry Berndt stated he admitted the attack after previously denying it.
