In Newark Ohio a 38 year old man Raymond McLaughlin killed a 45 year old school teacher and a farm hand then killed himself. A fourth victim Hedson 63 was wounded as McLaughlin was confronted by Sheriff Francis. Mary Williams 50 sister of the dead woman escaped. Coroner Dr James Pollock ruled the events a double homicide and suicide. Claims of a threatened return to Ohio to kill all if Mary Williams did not marry were noted by Mrs. Walter Copeland of Portland Oregon.

A passing motorist D C Wardson of Pittsburgh transported Mrs Whittle to Cambridge. The state patrol had not yet identified the truck driver.

Fire damages body shop at White Chevrolet on North Pine
