Veteran Local Musician Dies in Zanesville at 83
William N. Merrick, 83, veteran Zanesville musician and composer, died at 3 03 oclock Tuesday morning at his home after a four day illness from complications. Born April 1 1856 in Zanesville he played cornet in circus bands including Van Amburg and Heck outfits before settling in Zanesville in 1876. He wrote his last march Vote For Landog in June 1936 and had directed leading circus bands prior to his 1914 retirement. He lived at 805 Merrick Avenue.
