The community discusses who will replace Mrs. Ludy on the board as dates, residency, and politics complicate the appointment. Wary observers note possible successors and a two woman representation plan urged by local groups, with a lively meeting anticipated Monday night.
Community members in Zanesville are urged to donate toys gifts or money to the Day Nursery on Linden Avenue for 69 to 70 children. Santa Claus will visit the Nursery the Sunday before Christmas with an entertainment and tree for the children. Donations may be left at the Nursery or with Mrs Margaret Gibbons superintendent or with Mrs W P 1 Wiles Woodlawn Avenue committee chair. The Research club meets Tuesday with Mrs Waidnah Hood. Mrs Cooper reads a paper on Christmas in Many Lands and Mrs A J Dax will tell a Christmas story.
Local society pages report a busy holiday period with numerous dinners, dances, and visits as families reunite for Christmas and New Year. A pretty wedding at noon Tuesday joins Bliss Jalla Patterson to Desalino Robert with reception meals and a wedding tour afterward.
Miss Rose L Punrag and Henry C Perrine wed in a ceremony amid congratulations from friends. Grace M E Missionary Society hosted a holiday dinner at Gold and Coral halls with a 65 member festive crowd. Burton named head of the Quiston in October as members rose to 33. The Alpha Phi Fraternity planned the reception with a nine piece orchestra from Atlanta. Dinner at 7, bridge and mahjong followed. committee members Arthur Cr and Ted Shaw assisted. Beatrice Selfridge of London attended as guest. A bridge party and tea were slated by Mrs Burton and others at the Burton club with additional guests expected.
Boys Scouts will assist at a Weller theater Christmas party next Saturday morning. Kiwanis and Rotary clubs back the plan. donations of fruit candy and toys are welcomed at the theater. Committee members from Kiwanis include Messiah Seerey Damon Edward Baker and Harry Santh.
The Eagles contribute 1000 to the city playground fund. City officials report corn crop on the round and near Pasn of the waterworks, with about 2400 bushels produced this year. Corn is selling around 110 per bushel, total value about 1208, cost per bushel likely over 35 cents. The field was farmed with tractors and horses from the service department, showing the city’s agricultural activity and budget use.
Representative C. Ellis Moore of Cambridge, longtime congressman from this district, was chosen secretary at the Ohio delegation’s organization for the present term. The selection honors Moore for service and places him in the key administrative role.
