Federal Jury To Examine Documents In Spy Case
Secret U S government papers obtained by an admitted Communist agent a decade ago contained material of international importance. Twelve documents from confidential state files were released by the House Un-American Activities Committee with state department approval. The microfilmed papers, found on Whittaker Chambers farm, linked to Alger Hiss, raised questions about wartime intelligence and Axis plans. A New York grand jury will review the microfilms after authorization to transfer the files from the committee to the grand jury.

Navy training plane crashes in woods near Dresden
A Navy training plane piloted by Lt P. Terrill of Columbus crashed in dense woods seven miles southeast of Dresden after the pilot bailed out. Man Who Fled Pen in 1922 Surrenders
A well dressed man entered Ohio state penitentiary in Columbus and told Warden Alvis he was Wy Bucksburg. He had escaped in September 1922 while serving a term for grand larceny and said he lived 26 years as a fugitive in Pittsburgh and elsewhere. Bucksburg, 48, claimed to have become a master carpenter and supervisor of Allegheny county carpenters. He adopted four children and has five grandchildren. He surrendered to clear his record.

UN approves Palestine commission in three-nation plan

The 58 nation assembly debated Korea next and faced a Soviet filibuster delaying adjournment as Evatt postponed the session.
