New Mercantile Firm in Yerington

Will McDonough sells his mercantile business in Yerington to D. J. Butler and W. E. Luce. Inventory is completed and they take possession with stock, fixtures, lease, and goodwill. The firm will operate as The Yerington Mercantile Company, with Butler a Mason Valley farmer and Luce formerly of Ludwig. McDonough remains in Yerington as his home.

The Yerington Branch of the Lyon County Chapter American Red Cross was organized in the court room with officers elected. A Thanksgiving Day wedding in Smith Valley united Miss Hannah Peterson and Neil McVicar at the bride’s home with Rev. Armstrong officiating. The couple's reception followed, and they left for a Los Angeles honeymoon via Wabuska accompanied by Mabel McVicar and Mrs. Armstrong. New Draft Rules Nullify Past Exemptions in Statewide Update

Under new selective draft regulations every registrant is returned to original status and exemptions or discharges prior to December 15 are revoked. Registrants must know their order number and face misdemeanor penalties for noncompliance. Legal advisory boards, including J. Guild, R. L. Waggoner, and Warren Hauser for Lyon County, will inform the public. judges and attorneys are urged to assist.

Christmas membership drive to add 1000 members

Branches must ship finished articles every two weeks to headquarters. Mr Van Alstine leads the Christmas drive for Lyon County aiming to add 1000 members. The drive runs from December 17 to December 24 at midnight with speakers and helpers dispatched as needed.

Miss Heitman Becomes a Bride in Gardnerville

Miss Ida Heitman wed August Thies of Sacramento at the Lutheran Church in Gardnerville on Wednesday afternoon November 28. Rev. F. H. Menzel performed the ceremony, attended by relatives and close friends. Miss Heitman is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Heitman, longtime farmers who bought the old McLeod place. After a honeymoon in Los Angeles, the couple will reside in Gardnerville.

Local Coal Purchasing Order Guidance Issued

Distress Across Town As Families Receive Ill News

Dayton boy Gignous now in Reno spent days in town between Aurora and Thompson. Laurence Laughlin learned his sister Mrs John Arends is very ill and left for Salt Lake City. Mrs Arends, sister of A A Arends, once did business here. Louis Leavitt suffered a stroke from sunstroke, reported by Cline, with his people in Siam worried about his condition while he works on electrical equipment for an English company.
