High School Tops Town Team In Season Opener
The town town school and city high school opened the season with a 20 to 18 win by the high school. Captain Little led the Town team before leaving at halftime, while Lee Perry and Trenam exchanged duties at center. Pete Perry sparked the High School offense as Joe Borge impressed as defensive guard. The pace was fast, players were light and the coaches aim to field a stronger squad by tonight’s game against Fallon.

Death summons Mrs Elsie Daniels in Yerington
Mrs Chas Daniels died of typhoid fever after being moved from Reno to Yerington for recovery. She leaves husband and son Theodore, aged parents Rev and Mrs Ray of Geyserville, two brothers and Mrs Neeley. Funeral held in Geyserville last Tuesday with many local mourners offering sympathy.

Improvements at Walker River Copper Company
J B Gelder, manager, reported Reno preparations for a new compressor at the Walker River property two miles west of town. Daily ore shipments total about 90 tons to the smelter and with added equipment output will rise. A 20 ton ferric chloride plant operates successfully under R F Banks, chief metallurgist, with plans for a 100 ton daily plant in 1918.

A large crowd enjoyed a masquerade ball by the City Band at Rink Hall last Friday. Dancing lasted until 2:30 AM with elegant costumes and fine floor. Water rights suit for Walker River set for settlement
After a fourteen year dispute the T. B. Rickey interests and about 100 other Walker River water users near East and West forks are nearing a settlement. Special master Frank H. Norcross filed findings showing Union Land and Live Stock Company entitled to 237.18 second feet of water. Most rights from Wabuska to Smith valley were settled years ago based on Thurtell findings and rancher testimony.
