Engineers Defuse Nazi OP In Italian Alps Heroic TNT Raid

In Italy's mountains Combat Engineers from the 45th Division plant 500 pounds of TNT to collapse a hidden German OP, three men crawling up a ledge and placing charges. The blast and a fierce German barrage halt the line, as Sgt Charles Corelia survives a shrapnel hit. In a separate WELFTH AIR FORCE report, a B 26 crew member grapples with 1000 pound bombs sliding in the bomb bay, nearly losing a man before the two safely push them free and survive.

Hunger and Havoc at Beachhead Farmhouses

At Beachhead Italy Lt. George D. Krasevac leads a 20 man patrol against four Kraut farmhouses. A larger force appeared, yet the Americans smothered the farmhouses with bazookas mortars and machine guns. They captured over 130 prisoners and killed 20 Germans as dawn broke. The patrol ran a prisoner shuttle and found a breakfast prepared for over 100 awaiting them.
