Northwestern Improvement Company Seeks Yakima Kittitas Water
A large water appropriation by the Northwestern Improvement company is filed with the county auditor at Ellensburg. It claims 1000 cubic feet per second from lakes Katchess and Little Katchess and the connecting stream for irrigation mining manufacturing and supplying cities towns villages and domestic use in Yakima and Kittitas counties. Water will be stored behind a dam at the lake outlet and released during Yakima river low water to augment flow and diverted at various points for use. A similar filing exists for Lake Kitchelos with the same 1000 cfs and storage by a dam at the outlet.
