J Stewart Fife remains in Sheriff Tucker’s custody as extradition reaches Olympia en route to Missouri. He plans to surrender after advice from his Savannah Mo father, with Will Thompson as counsel. The murder linked to December 24 1900 involves Frank W Richardson of the Wife Richardson Mercantile Co. Addie Richardson is accused. a coroner verdict points to lethal pistol fire in the Richardson residence. Pretrial change of venue moved case to Clinton County St Joseph area.

Farewell Party Honors Mrs. W. Ryan

A farewell party was hosted Monday at George Weikel’s home by Rustle Circle 268 W O W for Mrs. W Ryan of Portland. The group praised her years of service and presented a souvenir spoon. Court cases wrap up with acquittal and guilty verdicts

Court convened last Monday and will close by Wednesday. McGrath acquitted of assault with intent to murder Prahl after a quarrel over sheep. Cochrane found guilty of simple assault and Longmire case ends with jury disagreement. Multiple minor civil actions resolved or continued.

Installation and Supper At Masonic Hall

On Monday evening in Masonic hall the Degree of Honor auxiliary to the A O W installed officers for the coming year. Mrs Callahan of Seattle past chief of honor acted as installing officer. Eleven and dates were initiated. A general good time followed with brief speeches including Mrs Callahan who praised the lodge’s growth. Supper served by the ladies and a brief note lists Dr G J Hill as physician and surgeon in Miller block.
