On September 6 1877 at the Gare SA EUS Church in Wooster Frederick W Reese and Anna M Mayer were married by Reverend Geo Filles in a crowded ceremony. The wedding party entered with George Schuck and Lillie Reese leading, Martha Lee officiating on organ, and the couple received warm congratulations from the pastor.
A Monday night entry at Dr J D Robison residence on North Market St involved forcing the lower sash with a knife or similar tool. A gold watch chain seal and $30 were taken, as was a memorandum book and Mrs Robison’s gold thimble. The thief exited via a near window after leaving a back door ajar.
Quinby Opera House announces a stellar 1877 78 season under Col Bates featuring Lawrence Barrett Jane Coombs John B Gough Wendell Phillips and Grace Greenwood. On Sept 22 Miss Jane Coombs stars in Romeo and Juliet with high praise from Cincinnati critics and a featured Nurse and balcony scenes praised for emotional depth.
An old advertisement touts Frazier's Root Bitters as a remedy to remove pimples and boils, claiming to purge internal corrup tion and cleanse the body. The dubious claim ties skin blemishes to moral failing while urging use of the tonic.

A serious accident occurred Wednesday morning at Jonathan Lessy’s farm four miles north of town. Peter Shriber’s arm was crushed when starting the engine to the threshing machine. Dr. Roebuck and Dr. Stoll treated the crushed elbow and are hopeful for possible recovery.

A Swedish Lady Vocal Quartet Aunt Polly Bassett Whitney Quartette and Carecross Dixie's Minstrels are among offerings. Tickets via F D Belknap Book Store with 50 cent general admission and reserved-seat rules noted. An orchestra led by Prof. Geo Weiss will provide music.

Judge Parsons presides as the Grand Jury returns multiple indictments. State cases include burglaries by Manson Lloyd Deyarman Snyder Zouk Wilson Smalley Hunter Reed and Reed plus Flina Conrad for selling liquor to a minor at Pike Station. Other cases feature four indictments for selling liquor to a minor to be consumed on premises. Civil actions include Gisler v Smith verdict for plaintiff 241.80 and Glaser v Reed verdict for plaintiff 226.04. Bastardy case Jeies v Sorg yields judgment 800 for plaintiff. Masons invite Ebeneezer Lodge No 83 assembly Wednesday at 7 30 p m with attendance urged.
