Wooster and Mansfield Commercial Travelers shared a day of hospitality with a train ride to Mansfield. A noon dinner at Hotel Vonhof preceded a 17 to 11 baseball victory by Mansfield with Zeigler making a spectacular left field catch. Funeral for Miss Sarah E. is planned at Plain church with Rev. Deeda of Wooster officiating.
A counterfeit ten dollar bill circulated weeks, passing through a butcher, a calf seller, a farmer, and a hired girl who used it to repay a loan. The sister deposited it, and only after the deposit was made was the note detected as counterfeit at the National Bank where Mr Blackburn is cashier.
Enthusiastic Wooster automobile fans plan to stage races at the county fair grounds during the upcoming fair. Local enthusiasts seek tests of speed with handicap and even start events, and some outside entrants may join.
Martha McClure aged 86, widow of Jonathan McClure, died Monday night at her daughter Mrs W L Burr's home in Rockford NL after a long life in Wayne County. She left eleven children, six surviving, including Mrs L P Obliger, Mrs Judge Johnson, Mrs W L Burr, C W McClure, L Y McClure, and W D McClure. Funeral at Henry P Chilger residence Thursday at 10 AM.
Creston notes cucumber growers suffer from cold weather and poor crop prospects as the season ends. Mina Brickman returns from Aurora, and Ex-Mayor Win Scott has been ill. Teachers prepare for the new term and locals comment on get-rich quick beliefs. Leila Hall and Dewie Wells work in a Cleveland millinery shop. Mrs. F W Neumeyer visits with her children, and the McDonald family returns from Chicago. Jane Taylor of a factory recovers from typhoid and edges toward convalescence.
Highly complimented inspector Mr. Archer who visited Friday praised the board of education for careful handling of funds and neat bookkeeping. After visiting 60 cities he stated the local schools' affairs were the most careful he observed.
Dr Louisa E Holden and her husband were guests of Andrew Carnegie at Skibo Castle in Argyle Scotland. They were royally entertained, and President Holden noted he did not discuss university work while abroad and has not yet investigated university matters since returning.
Wooster schools reopened Tuesday showing solid attendance. The staff assignments list Charles Haupert as superintendent and senior English instructor, with principals Laura Kean at High School and Beall Avenue, and Jannie Liggett at the seventh and eighth grade level.
Due to widespread typhoid germs in city water and poor supplies, the university faculty bar arranged germ proof filters for all buildings. Prof Bennett notes the plan aims to prevent outbreaks and urges public use of Davenport filter from Akron at a small cost.

Luce umpired all games from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no dinner break and visitors receiving fine treatment.
Word from Max Lees says he is recovering rapidly after being wounded Tuesday night. The bullet fragment in his jaw is partially removed and jaw bone pieces were extracted due to swelling. A Wooster rumor of his death was found to be in error by The Republican.

City council read and approved measures from the sewer committee favoring a sewer on McKenna streets. A resolution refairs pi ke in West Larwill street and the Spink street sewer ordinance was passed. The meeting adjourned after business concluded.
