Maise aide to Major's Division Green's Cavalry Corps Army of the Trans Mississipp i recounted the surrender of the steamer City Belle on May 8 1864 near Bragg y Point La and the deaths of Col Speigel Col Mudd and Col Bassett. Von Nest was a passenger on the steamer and the reunion sparked a nearly hour long conversation detailing the fierce battle and surrender. Maise formerly of New Orleans now prominent Washington DC attorney.
