Special to Tuy RerceLian Hankfort Ky Sept 26 Jim es ward was found guilty by jury with death penalty recommended. The verdict surprised observers as the jury was split on Howard's guilt but united on punishment, two favoring life imprisonment. The prosecution argued he shot the victim. the defense claimed it proved a successful bluff.

Special to The Republic Holmesville September 21 burglars forced entry to Kidd & Flack store last night or early Thursday morning. The safe was blown to pieces and $380 in cash, jewelry, and cutlery were taken. Suspected getaway toward B and O railroad. papers from the safe found along the track.
Samuel Kready on Quimby Avenue north of the High School heard a knock about nine o clock Thursday evening. A dust-covered man who claimed to be Jones from near Burbank appeared dazed and asked for help finding his horse. They started to fetch a lantern but Jones vanished within minutes, leaving Kready unable to locate any trace of the stranger.
