Disaster at Mountain View Schoolhouse Election Celebration
In Fayet teville Arkansas on November 18 the Mountain View Democrats held a celebration in a district school house. A blast from powder kegs and stored explosives wrecked the building as fireworks were fired. Two kegs exploded causing a deadly fire and many injured. A son and daughter of Silas Graham were found dead and Berry Sherrod died from injuries. Fifteen more were injured with several deaths likely.

The Washington Park Hotel at 69 71 Twelfth Street in Cincinnati collapsed last evening. Five people were in the dining room. all escaped except proprietor Goetzel who suffered minor injuries. His children were briefly trapped by a bed turned over in the wreck. The ruin, costing about 3000 dollars, involved the condemned 71 section. 69 remained undamaged. Windisch Mullhauser & Co. owned the three story brick building. A group of eighteen railroad men and several theater workers had just left or were elsewhere at the time.
