The tale linked his act to the sudden death of an engaged young woman said to have died under suspicious circumstances. A West Salem contact denied any self destructive act or post mortem. John Candie a Lehigh County native and longtime Mannonite minister dies after 43 years in Wayne County. Clark, a Wayne County native and dry goods salesman, died after a brief illness. survived by wife and one son. He had been employed by David Nice and was a member of several fraternal orders.
Our friend J M Myere suffered a hemorrhage of the lungs Saturday night. He recovered briefly but his condition worsened by noon. Neighbors fear the worst as relatives rally at his bedside. Wooster University reports no Phi Delta fraternity surrender of its charter but Phi Delta Theta will suspend activities for now. Ohio Delta, formed at Wooster in 1872, has had about 150 members with three resident members this college year. The chapter rooms in the Downing block were recently refitted and feature a gold shield badge, blue and white colors, and pink carnation as the flower. The fraternity traces to 1848 with many chapters. 66 active and 23 alumni chapters exist in 27 states. This is the third fraternity to leave Wooster, though Phi Delta Theta claims the charter merely sleeps.
