Gish, Republican, for Justice of the Peace and narrowed the head ticket Democratic majority to 56, a GOP gain of at least 59. Local totals show Wins for Frnck 152, Adair 163, McClure 114, Richards 169 amid fragmented returns.
John J. Adams of Zanesville, Republican candidate for judge of the Fifth Circuit, defeats M. Hunter of Licking by about 8,000 votes, reversing a Democratic plurality of 10,000 in 1892. Adams runs nearly 1,000 ahead of his ticket. Muskingum County grants him a 1,912 majority, first Republican elected to the position. In Louisiana, Democratic wins in sugar districts are reported, with Republican claims of fraud and contested certificates.
