India famine relief drives Overton corn shipment

A second Overton car of corn was sent May 14 to the Christian Herald New York for India relief. About 32 tons of grain, 1100–1200 bushels of corn, and seven bushels of wheat were shipped with funds totaling 3028 dollars. Local churches and individuals donated money and grain, a substantial portion contributed free sacks, and loading was aided by local merchants and the community effort.

Canton May 19 A local rail dispute centers on Ashland and Wooster Railroad plans. Reported short line from Ashland to Beach City may extend toward Mineral Point, Canal Dover, or Alliance to connect with Cleveland Pittsburgh routes.
