Long and Useful Life of Joseph C Plumer Dies
Joseph C Plumer, a Mexican War and Union soldier, longtime Wooster resident, ex deputy sheriff, and active political and fraternal leader, died at his Jean avenue home at 9 p m Friday July 26 1895 in his 74th year. Born Sept 28 1821 in Westmoreland Pa he served in the 3rd Ohio Infantry and 8th Ohio Infantry, later held mayoral office in Wooster and led Knights of Honor as Supreme Reporter and Ohio Grand Reporter. Surviving are wife Mary Patterson and daughter Rebecca Bechtel. son Washington J. Plumer and daughter Margaret J. Plumer are deceased. He was a respected citizen and active in local circles.

Picnic accident at Highland Park injures boy at game
At a United Presbyterian picnic Willie McQuigg, youngest son of Samuel McQuigg, had a bat shatter and strike his face. Though the blow caused a sore face, no bones were broken. Harry Boffenmyser lost an eye in a separate incident near Blackbleyville while tending cattle. horned edge injured his eye and doctors removed it. Dennis Lawrence, Wooster motorman, was viciously attacked by three highwaymen who shot him in the head but he survived. Police hunt the suspects.

The next annual reunion of the 102d Ohio Volunteer Infantry will be at Akron on August 1 with headquarters at Empire and the meeting in G A R Hall. About 150 veterans expected, led by Maj. K.E. Taggart and 13 Akron members including Samuel Richards and J.R. Campbell, plus five Foltz brothers. Last year’s gathering was in Mansfield.

Matilda Imhoff Funck died at home in Wooster on West South Street after a long illness, aged 62 years 7 months 19 days. Born December 5 1832 in Smithfield Somerset County Pennsylvania she married Daniel Funck November 8 1859 and lived in Wooster most of their married life. Survived by husband six children two sons died in childhood and three daughters and two sons living in Ohio. She was a devout Christian mother and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
