City council fails to meet quorum amid bids and sewer talks

The council did not convene a proper session Monday night due to no quorum as Kisling and Ginter were absent. No action was taken on re advertising for Bever street improvements while Bennett and other residents urged sewer connections to Quinby avenue from the North Market street system. The Daugman alley on East Garwill street was discussed and tiling of the alley was chosen as the relief method.

Modern Woodmen Day Picnic and Reunion Near Ashland

The Modern Woodmen of America chapters in Ashland, Wayne, and Holmes counties host the third annual reunion and a picnic at Odell's Lake on Thursday, August 8, 1907. Unusual Surgical Find At Wooster Hospital

A farmer near Blableyville underwent abdominal surgery at Wooster hospital Tuesday for a rare dermoid cyst attached to the intestine. Wayne County Rural Lettercarriers Elect Officers at Meeting

About half of the county’s 51 rural carriers attended the Wayne County Rural Letter Carriers meeting held Saturday to elect officers for the year. Elected were President KRW Taylor, vice president J Bifeb Rittwan, second vice president A H Sruip, secretary treasurer W E Leeper, with delegates to the State convention in Dayton. A Labor Day picnic at Chippewa Lake was planned, and a resolution invited Medina County carriers to join. Observers noted strong support for better roads and the pay rise announced to $50,000 per year total government spend in the county for rural delivery, highlighting the county’s reliance on these workers.

Reunion of Co D Spanish War Veterans at Odell’s Lake

About 25 members of Co D who served in Cuba in 1898 gathered for a two day reunion at Odell’s Lake. They camped under tents, ate at Rash honee, and shared war memories to strengthen their friendship. Some remained to spend May Day at the lake while others returned home, with plans for a longer gathering next week.
