Wayne county farmers fear a failed oat crop as yellow fields worry locals but Director Thorne and staff at the experiment station dispute a total loss. Sherman Brigade Reunion In Shelby Aug Twenty Ninth

Shelby citizens prepare to host the Sherman brigade with campsites ground sanitation and other needs for August 27 to 30. Committees volunteer as locals organize entertainment. City boards awards contracts for paving and water works

The public service board met Monday night and awarded two key contracts. Shannon and Wilderson of Orrville will pave Bever Street at 151 per front foot, using Wooster brick with work to begin ASAP. Columbus Machine Co wins the engine and pumps for the water works, GE 1 500 000 capacity daily, with plant installed in 151 days and 8458 20 advance, about 2150 for pipes and supplies. Work to start immediately to have the plan in operation before cold weather.

Two Wooster Boys Drive 1570 Mile Glidden Tour

The automobile tour for Glidden and Hower trophies covers 1570 miles from Cleveland to Toledo South Bend Chicago back to South Bend Indianapolis Canton Pittsburgh Bedford Springs Pa Baltimore Philadelphia and more this week. Picnic excursion to Silverlake set for July 25

The Pennsylvania lines contract secured last winter ensures a large crowd for the annual business men's outing to Silverlake. Two trains will transport riders from Wooster with 30 cars, 23 day coaches and two baggage cars, fare 75 cents for adults and 45 cents for children over five. First train departs 7:30 AM, second at 8:00 AM with stops at Akron Smithville and Orrville. returning trains leave 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM with stops at Akron Orrville and Smithville. Tickets go on sale July 24 at local businesses and at the depot July 24 evening and July 25 morning.

Factory Delays Halting Baggy Plant Beginning Work

Contractor Wm Long secured the Geratanglager Baggy factory contract but work cannot start this week due to Pennsylvania railroad delays on a suitable location near the freight depot.
