Special to The Republican reports more than fifty insane patients burned as Colney Hatch Asylum fire in London destroys the facility and frees many inmates. Six hundred women were rescued amid the chaos, while other incidents include a liner ashore near Holyhead and a New York political mandamus affecting Tammany Hall.
Senate debate centers on Dr Herran the Colombian charge d affaires who co signed the canal treaty with Secretary Hay. Senator Morgan of Alabama requests the president inform the Senate of Herran s full powers and to provide a copy of those powers. Morgan argues Colombia is dictatorship influenced and cites constitutional limits on treaty authorizations. A motion to refer to the Foreign Relations Committee passes with Morgan lone opposition.
Special to The Republican. Boeliaire January 23 burglars blew open the city bank safe at Somerton near here escaping with six thousand dollars. No clue.
Special to The Republican reports four men robbed Citizens' Bank in Waterloo Nebraska of 3500 dollars after wrecking the safe and exchanging shots with locals. In Steelville Illinois robbers blew the safe bank and escaped with 3000 dollars early today.

Will Lose Left Hand, Wm. Johnson of the Third ward, after rheumatism and complications led to blood poisoning. He traveled to Wellington weeks ago, and doctors say the left hand must be amputated to save his life. The operation will be performed this week.

Several jurors failed to report so on Tuesday additional names were drawn to fill the panel. The drawn jurors include H. S. Thomas of Greene, Howard Jameson of Enat Union, John Swinehart of Wooster, and Jacob Huntsberger of Baughman.
Canton Ohio January 27 Judge W R Day has accepted a tender of appointment as associate justice of the United States supreme court He said I received the tender from President Roosevelt Saturday I have just mailed my acceptance No word yet on when the appointment will reach the senate Bankers Assignments and livestock disease fears also appear in Ohio stories including a large banking house assignment at Burton and a tuberculosis outbreak among cattle herds in the state
Fay Boone of New Cambria Missouri aged 89 died. A Mississippi River steamboat captain and direct descendant of Daniel Boone she was well known in local circles. The obituary notes her long life and family lineage.
