A North Beaver Street tailor born in 1835 celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday. He learned the trade in Pennsylvania before moving to Wheeling about 1882, later settling in Woogter. He married Margaret Hawkins and had seven children. Church members visited, sharing prayers and memories, noting his faith and gentle spirit. He recalled seeing Jackson and Clay in Wheeling and a 1840 visit to a Pennsylvania home.
Prof Gill of District No 1 Woodier township is praised as a capable winter teacher sparking interest among scholars and parents. District No 5 residents praise his qualifications and character, hoping he stays. he is later hired to teach at the University for the summer term of 1889.
