Congressman McLowell Secures Widow’s Pension for Robison

Washington report states Congressman McLowell of Mitersburg C obtained a pension of $% monthly plus back pension for three years for the widow of Dr. James D. Robison of Wooster. Denis Whitaker, a Vermilion Institute student, Hayesville, shot himself during personal crisis. he remains in hospital with a head wound, though his condition is serious. He suffered rheumatism and a recent schoolhouse fire added to his distress. he has a widowed mother. A local sale yielded no bidders after the house burned down days ago.

Expensive Monuments Placed in Wooster Cemetery

Capt Forbes Alcock, Wooster's granite worker, recently installed two fine monuments in Wooster Cemetery. One honors Daniel Thomas, titled The Gates Ajar, made of Richmond granite. base weight about five hundred pounds. The second honors Hubert Childs of Syracuse, N Y, crafted from Quincy granite with two bases and a din, weighing about 12 tons and seven feet high, with Childs name in raised letters. An additional gedol headmark was placed over Mrs Alice Childs grave and a corner mark with raised U on the lot.

Birthday of long time tailor honored in Wheeling

A North Beaver Street tailor born in 1835 celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday. He learned the trade in Pennsylvania before moving to Wheeling about 1882, later settling in Woogter. He married Margaret Hawkins and had seven children. Church members visited, sharing prayers and memories, noting his faith and gentle spirit. He recalled seeing Jackson and Clay in Wheeling and a 1840 visit to a Pennsylvania home.
