The Joy line steamer Larchmont, with freight, crew of thirty, and 150 passengers, collided with the Schooner Henry Knowleton near Block Island in rough seas. The steamer sank within ten minutes. many aboard feared dead. Up to noon twenty bodies washed ashore as rescue boats made slow progress in below zero weather. Captain McVey among survivors.

Old Resident Ruth Eyman Dies at 78 in Wayne County
Ruth Eyman wife of Adem Eyman died Sunday night at 1180 after months of illness from diseases of advanced years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p m today with interment in Wooster. Born on a farm near Applecreek she lived there until moving to Wooster years ago. In her 79th year she married Adam Eyman in 1834, who survives. A lifelong Presbyterian she was known as a good Christian wife and neighbor.

W P Critchfield, a longtime resident of the Ripley township area near Shreve, dies at an early Sunday hour after months of paralysis. Funeral is set for 1 p m today. He leaves Mrs Critchfield and several children including Ammon B Critchfield, adjutant general of Onin. Death came after progressive paralysis and loss of speech.
