Wreck of the Deutschland off Kentish Knock and aftermath

The Deutsche land bound from Bremen to New York with 124 passengers and crew was wrecked on the Kentish Knock off the east coast in a snowstorm. Boats capsized, nine drowned, about 60 lost, survivors rescued by the steam tug Liver pool and brought to Harwich. German Consul provided aid. A separate Harwich report notes officers and passengers suffering during the rescue and survivors stripped to their few belongings.
