Albert F Cockrell youngest son of Mortimer and Sarah Ann Cockrell died aged 4 years 1 month 28 days after a life marked by church devotion and musical gifts. Born 1856 he lived twenty four years in the community, married Effie J Keeney in 1900, leaving two sons Carl and Roger, a devoted wife, aged mother, five sisters and three brothers to mourn.
Exetcrses at the Lutheran church attracted Tos pupils from war schools who were treated by teachers last Friday. Prof Fahr received a rocker and Miss McGuire gifts. Geo Butler from Canton is spending Christmas at home. Lingle plans farm move, Starvey Lingle sells store interest to A A Zimmerman, who will move in spring. Harry Weaver returns to Plain Dealer office in Cleveland. Mrs Sry of Wooster visits Soldmon Premers.
New York December 26 five alarms and 32 fire companies battled a blaze gutting a six story factory building at 102 104 and 106 Wooster Street causing damage up to 500000 Firefighters were injured but returned to duty No occupants were present at the building and origin remains unknown A dozen women workers escaped from an adjoining building without injury.
President Roosevelt removed Irving Baxter United States district attorney for Nebraska from office. Baxter had prosecuted Richards and Comstock cattle raisers for fencing illegal public lands. they were convicted and sentenced to six hours in custody. The marshal deputies who carried out the sentence led to Baxter stepping down.
Philadelphia December 26 President John Mitchell of the United Mine Workers has contacted anthracite coal producers to request an eight hour day and other demands. The letter notes plans for a conference between UMW committees and operators to decide on action. Details of operator response remain undecided.
Christmas services were held across West Salem churches with children leading songs and a cantata. Weddings occurred at Jacob Shakley’s home and Alma Myers to Harry Portyman of Pickerington. G C Myers died after months of illness. funeral at Methodist church. A Christmas gathering at Ferguson home featured a Christian tree and feast. Revival series planned at Methodist church. no preaching at Presbyterian next Sunday.
