Died at Sea Lieut Gardner Cousin of J I C Gard Heim

Lieut J B Van Nest learns of the death of his nephew Corporal James C Gard Heim of Company Bealentree Infantry at sea aboard the transport Ifo Janeiro near San Francisco on his return from the Philippines. Gard served three years in the regular army with stations at San Francisco and Governor's Island. He re enlisted during the Spanish American War and later served in the 34th U S Infantry in the Philippines before dying en route to San Francisco. He resided in Rowsbury Ashland County at enlistment. Relatives in Wooster received word of another Wooster death, Edward Linddtut, son of Joshua Lindinstant, born about 25 years ago, who taught and fell ill. The name General Dutedd appears on the Philippines dead list, December 15.

City Officer to Resign Chief of Fire Dept to Depart
