President’s Own Inauguration Trip Debated by Ohio Guard
Columbus dispatch reports Adjutant General Gyger knows little about the planned Eighth regiment O Q N G trip to Washington for McKinley’s inauguration. Funds are uncertain, with individuals funding by subscription or entertainments. Company D of Wooster praised for profits from events. Gyger may approve a mass march if funded. Previous promises to Washington and Omaha failed. A new Wooster unit may form, possibly joining the Eighth or replacing a weak company. Captain Gerlach sees Buffalo as a better alternative. Co D may go to Buffalo if the regiment stays home.
