Danville Kentucky December 2 A sack of mail containing 14000 in drafts and checks from the internal revenue office and 9000 in bank checks plus registered letters was stolen or lost between Danville post office and the depot or on the Cincinnati mail train. Carrier Hocker says he delivered the sack to the mail agent. the agent denies it. It was after dark with many sacks present. Government investigation ongoing. Found Guilty of Swindling in Chicago involving fraudulent mail schemes and advertising contracts. Judge withheld sentence pending new trial arguments.
Cleveland December 2 Richard Paddock veteran Lake Shore Ltd conductor was killed instantly at Perry 35 miles east of the city when the disabled engine halted and he stepped onto the opposite track and was struck by a Southwestern Limited at about 50 miles an hour He was about 40 years old and had served the railroad for 20 years.
Delegates from local unions in 15 cities meet in Chicago to organize a national union for war posters and their distributors. The convention will last three days as officers are planned to be elected and business progresses rapidly.

Morrland Moreland Dec 2. Mrs Metcalf of Shreve is visiting Wallace and family. Harvey Cutter of Cedar Rapids Iowa was guest of M M Fowler. Miss Hallie Hall of Holmesville was guest of sister Carrie Friday. Social at Mr Snyder's Saturday night a success financially and socially. John Cutter returned from two months in the west and enjoyed the trip. Miss Ethyl Morgan to Iowa to live with sister Mrs James. Mr and Mrs John Hitts attended rabbit supper in Holmesville. Miss Lettie Herman and Miss Ethyl Dole were guests of the former.
