Special to Wooster Republican West Salem Aug 17 John Netz a young farmer riding between West Salem and Harbank was fatally injured when his wagon was struck by a passenger train at the Erie crossing. One horse died and the conveyance demolished. Netz was thrown clear and found unconscious. no bones were broken but internal injuries likely to cause chest trauma.
Hore harbors in Crest on Ohio Aug 18 report top townsfolk especially oil stockholders in Coebton Oil company celebrate a successful well. The oil flow from the barn strike is reported at a little over 500 feet, prompting holders to resist large offers.
