A soggy day delayed the opening lecture and postponed baseball events near the ball club just outside town. Attendees endured heavy rain and chilly winds while a large crowd gathered, with musicians and a renowned quartet performing later in the day.
Hon Richmond Hobson, famed for Merrimac exploits, will speak at Wooster as part of the university lecture series on October 18. The event aims to inspire interest in naval history and public service.
A quiet Tuesday evening wedding joined Arthur Gasche of Chicago and Misa Ora Miller daughter of the late Captain B. F. Miller. Rev. Hershey officiated as the bride’s father’s illness and death made the ceremony intimate. Gasche is an assistant superintendent at Illinois Steel Co. They will reside on Madison Avenue after a lakes trip.
Elmer Zaugg brother of Wesley Zaugg filled the Reformed church pulpit on Sunday delivering a missionary sermon. He and his newlywed wife plan to depart for Japan at the end of August to devote their lives to mission work. Zaugg, a Heidelberg graduate, preached two sermons yesterday in Wooster at Emanuel's in Chester township and in Reedsburg.

A horse owned by D. Tak near Merehallvill was attacked by a rabid dog that ran through a barbed wire fence and fatally mauled the animal. The mare seized by fits, then died within hours after the first seizure. Several inoculated cattle and horses are now in bad shape.
The Orivtite Crescent reports spontaneous combustion sparked a weed stack on D. W. Frase’s farm near Marshallville. Dried weeds formed heat in a bale from a hog patch, emitting steam for days before the pile suddenly ignited, burning a portion of a twelve acre field and destroying timothy hay stubble before control was regained.

State Senator and M Ir Vanover, a major hay buyer, praised Wayne county hay after a favorable growing season. telegram announced the death of Mrs Elizabeth Curry in Middleboro Kentucky at about sixty years old. she was a daughter of Charles Laubach and widow of John Curry. she lived with her daughter Mrs Jessie Buck wife of Dr B C Buck and it is expected her remains will be brought to Wooster for burial beside her husband.
A woman tells Chief Henry Leiner on the street that she wants her husband barred from entering their home. Leiner, refusing to name the family, notes some disputes are later regretted.
