Pioneering Wayne County merchant John McClellan dead

Pioneer resident and former Wooster merchant John McClellan died near 90 after a cerebral hemorrhage. Born in Beaver County Pennsylvania in June 1800s, he helped bring Wooster University to prominence, served as its first treasurer, and remained a devoted church and Republican figure. He left six children and a long record of community service.

Probate appeal heard on alleged Glass will in Ashland

Judge Wolfe presided in Ashland common pleas Tuesday over the probate appeal of Samuel Glass's alleged will. Evidence of signature genuineness mirrored probate court standards. Unfortunate Bride Hangs Self After Cleveland Arrests

May Hartel, 20, a Massillon native who came to Cleveland six months ago, attempted suicide in a central police cell after Otto Hartel and May had been jailed for disorderly conduct. Hartel received 30 days and $50 fine. both promised to leave the city within 24 hours. The pair linked to a Windsor marriage in Akron followed by further arrests. May Hartel’s self harm occurred while authorities investigated their cases.
