Gold diamonds unearthed by California cave discovery
A long letter from John Hansan, written in San Francisco November 25 1819, describes a California gold discovery cave found by Tim Burton and his companion in a gorge near Teather River. They rescue Tim, extract vast diamonds from a buried cavern, speculate the cave roof and sides may be gold, and consider shipping the stones to London for sale while awaiting further tests and inspections.
